At the Warren Clinic Diabetes Center, we take education very seriously.
That's why we offer classes and individual consults on every aspect of
managing your diabetes. By helping our patients understand their diabetes,
our comprehensive education program empowers patients of all ages to
feel well-equipped to self-manage this disease.
We provide group classes and individual education for adults of all ages
and with varying types of diabetes. We encourage patients to schedule individual
consultations with us whenever they
are experiencing unusual difficulties or a change has occurred in their diabetes
management or treatment plan.
Choose Well Be Well
The "Choose Well Be Well" (CWBW) program is offered to
adults with type 2 diabetes that are newly-diagnosed or
in need of a “refresher” course. CWBW is a small group, comprehensive
diabetes education program. Course participants include those who are self-referred
or those who have been referred by their physicians. We prefer a physician
referral as the physician is integral to the team management approach to
diabetes. Classes are offered weekdays in the morning, afternoon,
and early evening. Please call (918)499-4700 for scheduling and cost information.
Course participants in the CWBW program can expect to participate in
training in the following important topics:
- What is diabetes?
- Medications
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Guidelines for healthy eating
- Meal planning
- Exercise
- Low blood sugar/sick day management
- Foot care
- Community resources
- Dining out
- Label reading
- Sweeteners and dietetic foods
